Williamson County Executive Committee Meeting

Williamson County Executive Committee Meeting

The Williamson County Executive Committee meets monthly to conduct its business and develop initiatives to Keep Wilco Red.

Our August meeting will feature a presentation from Chris McNutt, President of Texas Gun Rights. About Chris and the work of TXGR:

Since joining Texas Gun Rights in 2016 and becoming President in 2023, McNutt has emerged as one of the most outspoken and effective advocates for restoring and protecting the right to keep and bear arms in Texas. Under his leadership, Texas Gun Rights has mobilized grassroots gun owners across the state to hold politicians accountable and advance pro-gun reforms.

McNutt played a key role in the years-long fight to pass Constitutional Carry, culminating in the signing of HB 1927 in 2021, which restored the right of law-abiding Texans to carry a handgun without a permit. He also helped lead the charge to ban “red flag” gun confiscation orders, resulting in the passage of SB 1362 in 2025, preventing Texas courts from enforcing unconstitutional gun confiscation schemes.

Known for his willingness to challenge political insiders, McNutt has repeatedly taken on powerful figures who he believes threaten the Second Amendment. In 2019, he emerged victorious from a high-profile confrontation with then-Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen, and he has been a leading critic of U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s support for federal gun control measures including the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and expansion of the federal NICS gun registry.

During McNutt’s tenure, Texas Gun Rights has also achieved major legal victories. The organization has helped challenge unconstitutional federal regulations imposed by the Biden Administration, including the ATF’s attempted ban on pistol stabilizing braces and its effort to classify forced reset triggers as machine guns.
