Precinct Conventions

Precinct conventions are grassroots gatherings that serve as the foundational step in the Republican Party of Texas convention process.. Held after primary elections, these neighborhood-level meetings bring together voters who participated in the party’s primary to shape our party’s direction from the ground up.

At a precinct convention, attendees elect delegates and alternates to represent their local precinct at higher-level senatorial district and state conventions. They also debate and vote on resolutions that propose policy positions, platform planks, or legislative priorities—ideas that can rise through the convention hierarchy to influence the official party platform. These gatherings empower everyday voters to directly impact party rules, candidate endorsements, and issue stances, embodying true bottom-up political participation.

Whether you’re passionate about specific issues or want to help build your party’s future, attending your local precinct convention is one of the most accessible ways to get involved in the political process.
